SEA Studies Symposium 2013 – Accommodation & Getting Around
9 – 10 March 2013
University of Oxford
KEY ACCOMMODATION & SYMPOSIUM VENUES
The Conference will be held at St Anne’s College. For a full map of the University of Oxford’s colleges, please visit: http://www.ox.ac.uk/visitors_friends/maps_and_directions/colleges_and_halls.html
Accommodation is not included in the conference registration fee. Due to the large number of participants expected at this conference, the organisers would like to apologise for not being able to make accommodation arrangements for all.
As Oxford is a small city, most accommodation is accessible within 30 minutes on foot from St Anne’s College, which is located in north Oxford. We suggest the following list of accommodation options in and around Oxford, from which participants can make their own arrangements for the duration of the conference, subject to their own budget and schedules.
Budget – Hostels
http://www.hostelworld.com or http://www.hostels.com
We recommend the “Oxford Backpackers Hotel” and “Central Backpackers”. Both hostels are located near Said Business School, just a short walk from the Oxford Train Station. It takes around 20-30 minutes to walk to St Anne’s College.

Our recommendations are the colleges closest to St Anne’s College, which are Keble College, St Antony’s College, St Hugh’s College, and Green Templeton College.
Mid-range and Above – Hotels
Our recommendations are the hotels closest to St Anne’s College, which are Cotswold Lodge, Parklands B&B, Old Parsonage Hotel and The Galaxie B&B.
GETTING TO THE SYMPOSIUM
1. From the train station to St Anne’s
Taxis are recommended from the station, but if you are happy with a 30 minute walk, turn left as you leave the station area. The Royal Oxford Hotel is directly in front of you; keep left and walk along Hythe Bridge Street. At the end walk straight across into George Street. At the end of George Street Debenhams Store is on the left. Turn left into Magdalen Street and from there you will reach St Giles’. Keep to the left-hand side of St Giles’ and follow the road north. This becomes the Woodstock Road eventually when you have passed St Giles’ church (on the right) and Brown’s Café (on the left). Walk straight up the road, passing Green Templeton College on the left, until you arrive at Observatory Street (on the left). St Anne’s is on the opposite side of the road (see Plate A).
