As part of the Southeast Asian Studies Symposium, participants will have the option to tour two research facilities in Kuala Lumpur. Tickets are RM70/USD19 each and limited to 30 participants. Tickets may be purchased at the Southeast Asian Studies Symposium registration portal.

0800: Meet at Sunway University for departure to National Archives of Malaysia

0900 – 1000: Meeting with NAM Director General Azemi Abdul Aziz

1000 – 1130 – Visit to NAM Research Hall. Archivists will demonstrate how use the archiving materials/system, show participants rare materials, and answer questions.

1130 – 1300: Visit to Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Memorial & Archives

1300: Lunch (at own cost)

1400: Bus returns to Sunway University

Tour of Institut Penyelidikan Perhutanan Malaysia (Forestry Research Institute Malaysia, FRIM)

Note: This tour involves an optional trek through the forest. If you want to go on the trek, please wear suitable clothes and shoes for hiking.

0800: Meet at Sunway University for departure to FRIM

0900 – 0930: Introduction and briefing on research at FRIM

0930 – 1000:  Visit laboratories

1000 – 1300: Optional guided walk on the Canopy Walkway and nature trekking OR tour of FRIM grounds and free time.

1300 – 1400: Lunch

1400: Bus returns to Sunway University
